Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a cardiac ultrasound training program, RDCS certification within 1 year, and BLS. Weekend and holiday rotations and on-site work are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Cardiac ultrasound training program completed.
• RDCS certification/registry within 12 months of employment.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic echocardiograms and stress echo procedures as ordered.
• Records quality information while imaging and follows protocols.
• Explains procedures and possible side effects to patients and families.
• Confirms physician requests and reviews clinical history for indicators/contraindications.
• Collaborates with physicians to ensure quality patient care.
• Operates equipment used to perform echocardiograms.
• Maintains patient medical records.
• Manages the three stages of reporting: study completion, interpretation, and final report.
• Submits final reports to nursing units, physician offices, or medical records.
• Performs portable echocardiograms as needed.
• Takes call, works weekends and rotates holidays.
