Summary

Under the general supervision of the Cardiac Testing Manager, performs and interprets ultrasonic evaluations of the heart. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age-specific needs of the patients.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs techniques such as M-mode, two-dimensional echocardiography, Doppler echocardiography (pulsed, CW, color flow, exercise, contrast).
  2. Follows imaging protocols outlined in the CVI procedure manual.
  3. Explains echocardiographic procedures to patients and answers questions, ensuring safety and comfort.
  4. Assists in teaching cardiology fellows in these techniques.
  5. Adjusts schedules to meet patient needs.
  6. Participates in research data collection and analysis.
  7. Maintains professional knowledge through ongoing education and affiliations.
  8. Ensures quality assurance, safety, and infection control per hospital policies.
  9. Performs other duties as required, considering the age-specific needs of patients.
  10. Fosters patient and family-centered care aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital.
Other Information

Basic Knowledge: Completion of a CAAEP-accredited ultrasound program, eligibility for ARDMS certification.

Experience: Two years in Cardiac Ultrasound.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Healthcare setting involving direct patient contact, equipment use, and safety protocols. Requires walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

None.
