Job summary

CommonSpirit Health in Tennessee is seeking a Cardiac Nurse to care for patients with life-threatening cardiac events and to guide families through daily care and long-term healing plans outside of the hospital.

You will monitor vitals, assess changing conditions, and collaborate with cardiology and cardiovascular teams to deliver comprehensive care. The role includes continuing education opportunities to advance clinical nursing skills.

Qualifications

  • RN license in TN upon hire
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) required at hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor diagnostic data and escalate critical results
  • Administer therapies and maintain IVs while following safety policies
  • Manage rapidly changing situations with clinical judgment
  • Prioritize and coordinate multiple patient needs
  • Provide patient comfort, advocacy and education

As our Cardiac Nurse, you’ll care for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events or conditions while helping their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital.

You’ll never have the same day twice as your patients’ needs evolve. That’s why you must be adaptable and detail-oriented, observing vitals and reporting the warning signs early to our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals.

Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to go the extra mile for your patients and your strong assessment skills. To further support your nursing career, we offer continuing education opportunities to help you advance your clinical nursing skills.

  • Diagnostic and patient monitoring (detection and recognition of acute changes and escalation or concerns/critical results).
  • Administration and monitoring therapeutic interventions and regimens (starting/maintaining intravenous therapies, administering medication per patients’ rights, preventing falls and skin breakdown and following policies in relation to safety measures).
  • Effective management of rapidly changing situations (identifying, assessing and anticipating needs).
  • Organization and work rule competencies (prioritizing, coordination and meeting multiple patient needs in a timely manner).
  • Helping Role (consistently contribute to a healing environment, providing patient comfort and support for human dignity, serving as a patient advocate and building and maintaining a therapeutic environment.
  • Teaching-Coaching Function (assess and evaluates the patient’s readiness and ability to learn, effectively explains a patient’s condition and their interpretation of his or her illness.
