Job summary

Memorial Hospital - Chattanooga is seeking a Cardiac ICU Nurse to care for patients with life-threatening cardiac events and to guide families through daily care and long-term healing plans outside the hospital. You’ll monitor vitals, report early warning signs to a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals, and adapt to evolving patient needs.

Qualifications

• ADN required at hire.
• RN licensure in Tennessee at hire.
• BLS CPR required at hire.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic and patient monitoring (detection and escalation of acute changes).
• Administration and monitoring of therapeutic interventions and regimens (IV therapies, medications, safety).
• Manage rapidly changing situations with proactive assessment and response.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Cardiac ICU Nurse, you’ll care for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events or conditions while helping their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital.

You’ll never have the same day twice as your patients’ needs evolve. That’s why you must be adaptable and detail-oriented, observing vitals and reporting the warning signs early to our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals.

• Diagnostic and patient monitoring (detection and recognition of acute changes and escalation or concerns/critical results).


• Administration and monitoring therapeutic interventions and regimens (starting/maintaining intravenous therapies, administering medication per patients’ rights, preventing falls and skin breakdown and following policies in relation to safety measures).


• Effective management of rapidly changing situations (identifying, assessing and anticipating needs).


• Organization and work rule competencies (prioritizing, coordination and meeting multiple patient needs in a timely manner).


• Helping Role (consistently contribute to a healing environment, providing patient comfort and support for human dignity, serving as a patient advocate and building and maintaining a therapeutic environment).


• Teaching-Coaching Function (assess and evaluates the patient’s readiness and ability to learn, effectively explains a patient’s condition and their interpretation of his or her illness).
