Job summary

CommonSpirit Memorial in Tennessee is seeking a Cardiac ICU Nurse to care for patients with life-threatening cardiac events and guide families through daily care and long-term healing plans.

You will monitor vitals, recognize early warning signs, and collaborate with cardiologists, EKG techs, and cardiovascular teams to adapt care as patient needs evolve.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing required at hire.
• Registered Nurse license in Tennessee required at hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) required at hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide cardiac ICU patient care for life-threatening events.
• Monitor vitals and report early warning signs to the cardiovascular team.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapies per patient rights.
• Prevent falls and skin breakdown; adhere to safety policies.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team to adapt care plans.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and recovery.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Cardiac ICU Nurse, you’ll care for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events or conditions while helping their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital.

You’ll never have the same day twice as your patients’ needs evolve. That’s why you must be adaptable and detail-oriented, observing vitals and reporting the warning signs early to our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals.

• Diagnostic and patient monitoring (detection and recognition of acute changes and escalation or concerns/critical results).


• Administration and monitoring therapeutic interventions and regimens (starting/maintaining intravenous therapies, administering medication per patients’ rights, preventing falls and skin breakdown and following policies in relation to safety measures).


• Effective management of rapidly changing situations (identifying, assessing and anticipating needs).


• Organization and work rule competencies (prioritizing, coordination and meeting multiple patient needs in a timely manner).


• Helping Role (consistently contribute to a healing environment, providing patient comfort and support for human dignity, serving as a patient advocate and building and maintaining a therapeutic environment).


• Teaching-Coaching Function (assess and evaluates the patient’s readiness and ability to learn, effectively explains a patient’s condition and their interpretation of his or her illness).
