Job summary

CommonSpirit Memorial is seeking a Cardiac Nurse to care for patients with life-threatening cardiac events and conditions while guiding families through daily care and long-term planning outside the hospital.

You will monitor vitals, escalate concerns, and collaborate with cardiologists, EKG techs, and cardiovascular staff to ensure timely interventions. Continuing education opportunities are offered to advance nursing skills.

Qualifications

• Associate Of Nursing Nursing, upon hire.
• Registered Nurse: TN, upon hire.
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 days.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 6 months.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing, upon hire (Preferred).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 14 days (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic and patient monitoring (detection and recognition of acute changes and escalation or concerns/critical results).
• Administration and monitoring therapeutic interventions and regimens (starting/maintaining intravenous therapies, administering medication per patients’ rights, preventing falls and skin breakdown and following policies in relation to safety measures).
• Effective management of rapidly changing situations (identifying, assessing and anticipating needs).
• Organization and work rule competencies (prioritizing, coordination and meeting multiple patient needs in a timely manner).
• Helping Role (consistently contribute to a healing environment, providing patient comfort and support for human dignity, serving as a patient advocate and building and maintaining a therapeutic environment).
• Teaching-Coaching Function (assess and evaluates the patient’s readiness and ability to learn, effectively explains a patient’s condition and their interpretation of his or her illness).

You’ll never have the same day twice as your patients’ needs evolve. That’s why you must be adaptable and detail-oriented, observing vitals and reporting the warning signs early to our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals. Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to go the extra mile for your patients and your strong assessment skills.
