Job summary

Wellstar Health System seeks a Cardiac Rehab Exercise Physiologist to provide patient-centered care within the Cardiac Rehab program. You will develop individualized exercise prescriptions aligning with ACSM/AACVPR guidelines and work with a multidisciplinary team to improve cardiac outcomes.

You will educate patients and families, monitor vitals, manage risk factors, and participate in staff training and quality initiatives in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field required.
• Knowledge of coronary heart disease, cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology, electrocardiography.
• Experience with exercising special cardiac populations and group instruction preferred.
• Excellent communication in English and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assess modifiable risk factors and guide lifestyle changes.
• Assist in initial assessment and plan of care with staff.
• Develop and adjust exercise prescriptions per ACSM/AACVPR guidelines.
• Supervise exercise sessions and monitor responses.
• Document patient responses in EPIC and Scott Care systems.
• Educate patients on cardiovascular disease, nutrition, and risk factors.
• Lead 1:1 or group education sessions on heart health.
• Lead warm-up, cooldown and strength training portions.
• Participate in emergency training and team meetings.
• Contribute to performance and process improvement initiatives.
