Job summary

SSM Health is seeking an Exercise Physiologist to support cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients with exercise testing, ECG interpretation and rhythm monitoring, and personalized exercise prescriptions. The ideal candidate will have cardiac rehab experience and strong collaboration skills with physicians, nurses, and other care team members.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and internship in a Cardiopulmonary Rehab program, with BLS HCP and ALS certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a health related field.
• Completion of internship in a Cardiopulmonary Rehab program.
• BLS HCP and ALS certifications are required per the job posting.

Responsibilities

• Develops exercise prescription and oversees progression in patients within a rehabilitation setting.
• Provides exercise prescription based on test data, patient status and current medication regimen; updates prescriptions as needed.
• Performs patient testing before and after rehabilitation including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance.
• Assesses hemodynamic response and patient tolerance to activity progression to tailor prescriptions.
• Documents monitored ambulation, education and discharge planning per policies.
• Provides exercise information to patients, peers and the community, including possible public speaking and classes.
• Works with a team and maintains safety at all times.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
