Job summary

St George Regional Hospital is seeking a skilled Perfusionist to manage extracorporeal circulation, operate life-support systems, and administer drugs per physician orders. The role includes heart transplantation support and CPS/VAD management, with preferred ECMO experience and a history of working in high-pressure clinical environments.

The team supports 300 annual pump cases and provides ECMO initiation and stabilization prior to transfer to a regional center.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal academic training program in Cardiopulmonary Perfusion.
• Certification by the Board of Cardiopulmonary Perfusionists.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Demonstrated experience working independently in high-pressure clinical environments.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all clinical aspects of perfusion services, including cardiopulmonary support, hepatic bypass, LVADs, RVADs and CPB-related duties.
• Operates and maintains perfusion equipment and monitors anticoagulation status per protocols.
• Administers and records blood products and pharmacological agents via the extracorporeal circuit.
• Performs CPS/VAD training and daily rounds for CPS/VAD patients.
