Job summary

Mary Washington Hospital is seeking a Level II Competent Registered Nurse to care for patients and collaborate with the healthcare team. You will apply evidence-based knowledge, perform nursing processes, and ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care across assignments.

Requirements include a Virginia RN license, 2 years of acute care experience, AHA BLS CPR, and unit-specific certifications; BSN preferred with an expectation to obtain BSN within five years.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and experienced RN.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state.
• BSN preferred; must obtain BSN within five years of hire (Effective March 2014).
• AHA BLS CPR required at hire.
• NIHSS (Bluecloud) required within 90 days.
• Additional certifications required per unit.
• Two years of recent RN acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care with licensed/unlicensed staff using the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Coordinate patient/family involvement in care planning and discharge planning.
• Communicate plan of care to health team members.
• Assist Leadership to define standards of excellence and improve services.
• Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Participate in orientation of new staff.
• Serve as point of contact on policies and procedures for nurses.
• Participate in daily operational activities for safe patient/staff environment.
• Provide input to Nurse Manager on unit needs.
• Participate in committees for policy formulation.
• Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care across settings.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and implement plans of care.
• Educate patients and caregivers about the plan of care.
• Act as case manager when assigned to coordinate services.
