Job summary

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, IL, is seeking a Student Nurse Extern to support nursing teams under supervision. This PRN role offers hands-on training and a pathway toward Graduate Nurse Residency after RN program completion.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited school of nursing and completion of first clinical rotation, or no more than 90-days post conferral date

Responsibilities

• Completes patient care tasks based on skills deemed competent in nursing school under direction of RN.
• Contributes to overall quality and safe care for patients by answering patients’ calls for help, taking vital signs, and monitoring condition.
• Assists with activities of daily living and patient comfort.
• Performs procedures such as dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, catheter care, and specimen collection as directed.
