Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an MRI Technologist I – Cardiac to perform routine and cardiac MRI procedures with high proficiency. The role involves scanner operation, patient prep, and coordination with Radiologists to ensure accuracy and safety.

The incumbent will administer IV contrast per protocol, review patient history, and ensure quality imaging while maintaining sterile technique and radiation safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have ARRT MRI registry or ARMRIT credential.
• BLS certification is required.
• Competency checklists for basic and advanced cardiac MRI are required.

Responsibilities

• Verify orders with Radiologist and resolve discrepancies.
• Identify and prep patients, explaining procedures.
• Interview patients to obtain medical history and document EMR data.
• Own the exam from start to final dictated results.
• Administer IV contrast per protocol and record amounts.
• Evaluate image quality and consult Radiologist as needed.
• Provide basic patient care and respond to emergencies including code blue.
• Perform MRI scanning and assist during invasive procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection control.
• Operate radiology computer system and document contrast in MAR.
• Keep work area clean and supplies stocked.
• Adhere to MRI safety requirements for staff and patients.
