Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) to assess patients, develop care plans, and administer direct care and medications in a hospital setting. The role requires NYS RN licensure and a Bachelor’s degree in nursing, with preferred acute care experience.

The RN will follow infection-control practices, document patient education, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Possession of a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of hospital acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate nursing care activities with other health disciplines involved in the treatment effort to relate and integrate the nursing regimen with the treatment plan for patients.
• Develop a written individualized care plan which includes teaching needs and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care when professional nursing skills and judgment are needed.
• Administer medications.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient’s condition and questions regarding patient care to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain current written plan of care; set priorities and patient/family goals.
• Document patient/family teaching and ensure it aligns with physician instructions.
• Communicate and work effectively with other staff and departments.
• Participate in unit or hospital-based quality assurance activities.
