Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) to provide direct patient care on the 16S Cardiac ICR unit. The role requires NYS RN licensure, with a BSN preferred and at least one year in a hospital acute care setting.

The nurse will assess patients, develop care plans, administer medications, ensure infection control, and coordinate with other disciplines. Shift/days vary; benefits include leave, health insurance, and pension participation.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of previous hospital acute care experience.
• Only licensed nurse experience in an acute care facility will be counted towards RN1 experience.
• Acute care is defined as medical services provided for illnesses that are short-term and require vigilant monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and plan nursing care.
• Develop an individualized care plan including discharge planning.
• Administer direct care when needed and administer medications.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the nurse in charge.
• Maintain and update the written plan of care for patients.
• Document patient/family education and responses in the medical record.
• Collaborate with staff and hospital departments on care quality.
