Job summary

CommonSpirit Memorial is seeking a Cardiac Nurse to care for patients with cardiac events and to guide families in daily care and long-term healing plans beyond the hospital setting.

The role requires RN licensure in Tennessee, BLS at hire, and ACLS within 6 months, with preferred BSN. The position emphasizes adaptability, vitals monitoring, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary cardiovascular team.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Registered Nurse license in Tennessee required.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification at hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and monitor patients, detect acute changes, and escalate concerns to cardiovascular team.
  • Administer and monitor therapies, including IVs and meds, ensuring patient safety and rights.
  • Manage rapidly changing situations with proactive assessment and intervention.
  • Organize care, coordinate actions, and meet multiple patient needs promptly.
  • Provide a healing environment, patient advocacy, and compassionate support.
  • Educate patients and assess readiness to learn about their condition and treatment.

As our Cardiac Nurse, you'll care for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events or conditions while helping their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital. You'll never have the same day twice as your patients' needs evolve. That's why you must be adaptable and detail-oriented, observing vitals and reporting the warning signs early to our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals. Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to go the extra mile for your patients and your strong assessment skills. To further support your nursing career, we offer continuing education opportunities to help you advance your clinical nursing skills.

  • Diagnostic and patient monitoring (detection and recognition of acute changes and escalation or concerns/critical results).
  • Administration and monitoring therapeutic interventions and regimens (starting/maintaining intravenous therapies, administering medication per patients' rights, preventing falls and skin breakdown and following policies in relation to safety measures).
  • Effective management of rapidly changing situations (identifying, assessing and anticipating needs).
  • Organization and work rule competencies (prioritizing, coordination and meeting multiple patient needs in a timely manner).
  • Helping Role (consistently contribute to a healing environment, providing patient comfort and support for human dignity, serving as a patient advocate and building and maintaining a therapeutic environment.
  • Teaching-Coaching Function (assess and evaluates the patient's readiness and ability to learn, effectively explains a patient's condition and their interpretation of his or her illness.
