Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform comprehensive echocardiography studies, including M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, and Color Flow Doppler. The role involves preparing patients, collecting clinical histories, and assisting in complex procedures in collaboration with cardiology staff.

The candidate will be responsible for identifying cardiac abnormalities, acquiring accurate measurements, and maintaining the Echocardiography Lab and equipment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic principles, instrumentation and techniques.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
• Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures (M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, Color Flow Doppler) and measurements for interpretation.
• Identifies and defines cardiac abnormalities and extends the scope of the examination as needed.
• Prepares patients for procedures and collects clinical history to optimize imaging.
• Assists in transesophageal studies with cardiologist and sterilizes probe.
• Communicates clinical findings to appropriate staff.
• Maintains Echocardiography Lab equipment and records statistics.
