Job summary

Advocate Health Care seeks a Cardiac Sonographer to perform advanced echocardiography and assist in complex procedures. You will obtain patient histories, adjust imaging for diagnostic accuracy, and communicate findings to clinicians.

The role requires ARDMS/CCI certification, 2+ years in cardiovascular imaging, and BLS. You will collaborate with cardiology teams, ensure lab standards, and contribute to ongoing ICAEL accreditation efforts.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of sonography principles and techniques.
• 2 years of cardiovascular sonography experience including digital quantification.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures (2-D, M-mode, Doppler, Color Flow) and take required measurements.
• Identify abnormalities and adjust examination scope as needed, correlating with other tests.
• Prepare patients and obtain history to tailor imaging techniques for diagnostic quality.
• Assist in transesophageal studies with cardiologist and prepare/sterilize probes.
• Communicate clinical findings to staff and document results.
• Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of Echocardiography Lab equipment.
• Serve as a resource to staff and students on equipment and techniques to optimize patient care.
• Collaborate with supervisor to implement protocols as technology evolves and ensure standards.
• Work with medical director for quality processes and ICAEL accreditation adherence.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate care considering patient development and departmental standards.
