Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant II to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. You will work under clinical supervision of providers and under the clinic manager to ensure smooth patient flow and care delivery.

This position offers a $7,500 commitment incentive paid over 3 years, with typical 40-hour weeks and day schedules. Certification by AAMA/AMT/NCMA/NCMA or a strong MA program is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of full-time experience as Medical Assistant preferred.
• Certification by AAMA/AMT/NCMA/NCMA required or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform rooming and intake with vital signs and data collection.
• Gather patient and family health history.
• Review medications, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
• Assist provider during treatments and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Administer medications under provider supervision.
• Perform tests such as EKG and vision exams.
• Ensure proper immunization and health maintenance per schedule.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms; maintain cleanliness.
• Provide post-visit and self-care instructions to patients.
• Assist with patient registration, check-in/check-out, and scheduling.
• Answer clinic calls and triage as directed.
• Assist in emergencies under supervision.
• May train new staff and assist with clinic safety and audits.
• Manage clinic supply ordering.
