Job summary

Banner Health seeks a skilled Special Procedures Technologist (SPT) for our Cardiac Cath Lab at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Chandler. The role involves assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, including complex EP cases, with emphasis on patient safety and efficient operation of cath lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Cardiovascular Invasive program or equivalent experience.
• Requires ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology (RT) as required by state law.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required where applicable.
• Requires 5 years’ Cath Lab, Electrophysiology (EP) or equivalent experience OR 7 years Cath Lab, EP with at least 3 years in high acuity/structural heart or most complex interventions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing all diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures including complex EP cases.
• Operate diagnostic and therapeutic equipment efficiently and maintain a safe environment.
• Monitor and record ECG and pressure waves during procedures; manage patient status during interventions.
• Maintain sterile technique and prepare instruments for cleaning after cases.
• Contribute to staff development and mentorship as assigned.
