Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital in Houston seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cardiac Cath Lab to join a fast-paced, highly technical critical care team. You will provide quality procedural care to pediatric cardiac patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing and evaluating age-appropriate care in a family-centered, outcomes-driven environment.

The ideal candidate will have a nursing degree and the required Texas RN license, plus 9 months of nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or associates/tech diploma with BSN pathway eligibility.
• Minimum 9 months nursing experience.
• RN license by Texas Board of Nursing or in Nurse Licensure Compact.
• BLS CPR from American Heart Association.
• Strong interpersonal, time management, and communication skills; knowledge of nursing process.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient/family in an organized, age-appropriate manner.
• Analyze situations, anticipate problems, and detect changes in status.
• Update plan of care and document in the medical record.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and patient care conferences.
• Assist patients and families in implementing their plan of care.
• Educate patients/families and assess learning needs.
• Administer medications and treatments in a timely manner.
• Contribute to unit performance improvement initiatives.
