Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology (Special Procedures). The role involves direct patient care before, during, and after cardiovascular and radiology procedures in a fast-paced lab.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, procedural support, sedation monitoring, recovery care, and emergency response within the Cath Lab.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• DC RN License required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Cath Lab, IR, or procedural nursing experience preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Requires ONS/ONCC certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology procedures.
• Prepare patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, obtaining informed consent verification, initiating IV access, and providing patient/family education.
• Monitor patients during procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and moderate sedation administration/monitoring in accordance with hospital policy.
• Assist physicians during procedures such as angiograms, angioplasty, stent placement, thrombectomy, embolization, biopsies, vascular interventions, and other minimally invasive procedures.
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment including hemovascular monitoring systems, contrast injectors, and emergency resuscitation equipment.
• Recognize and respond to complications or emergencies, including arrhythmias, respiratory distress, bleeding, or cardiac arrest situations.
• Provide post-procedure recovery care, including sheath removal, hemostasis management, monitoring for complications, and discharge education.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Adhere to infection prevention, radiation safety, and regulatory compliance standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and department competency programs.
