Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Special Procedures Technician - Interventional Radiology (Per-Diem/PRN) to join our fast-paced radiology team.

You will operate fluoroscopy and imaging equipment, assist with angiography, angioplasty, and biopsies, and ensure patient safety and radiology best practices. The role requires ARRT R certification, 2+ years IR/Cath lab experience, and strong teamwork to deliver quality care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field required.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
• ARRT (R) certification required
• Advanced certification: ARRT (VI) or Cardiovascular Interventional (CI) preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Interventional Radiology, Special Procedures, or Cath Lab required
• Experience assisting with image-guided procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, stent placement, and biopsies
• Proficiency in operating fluoroscopy and advanced imaging equipment
• Experience with moderate sedation procedures preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepares procedure rooms, ensuring all equipment, supplies, and sterile instruments are available and functioning properly
• Assists physicians and interventional radiologists during minimally invasive, image-guided procedures
• Operates fluoroscopy and other advanced imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
• Positions patients accurately to optimize imaging results while ensuring comfort and safety
• Maintains sterile technique and assists with the setup and breakdown of sterile fields
• Monitors patients during procedures, including vital signs and overall condition, and reports changes promptly
• Administers contrast media and medications as directed, in accordance with hospital policy and scope of practice
• Ensures compliance with radiation safety standards, including proper shielding and dose minimization techniques
• Documents procedures, patient information, and imaging results accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care
• Prepares and transports patients to and from procedures, providing education and reassurance as needed
• Maintains and troubleshoots imaging equipment, reporting any malfunctions or service needs
• Participates in on-call rotations and responds to emergency procedures as required
• Adheres to all regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention standards
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and maintains required certifications and continuing education

Education

Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
