Required Credentials:Associate’s Degree or Certificate of Completion.
Unit Details:The patient population includes patients requiring invasive cardiology or invasive radiology studies.The technologist assists the physician with invasive procedures in the Heart & Vascular Institute.Cardiac Cath Lab procedures include left heart catheterization with or without coronary stenting, right heart catheterization, pericardiocentesis, and vascular access under sterile procedure.Structural heart procedures include TAVR, Watchman, MitraClip, TriClip, ASD/PFO, and CardioMEMS.Hybrid peripheral vascular procedures are performed in coordination with vascular surgery and include EVAR, TCAR, and TEVAR.Adjunctive tools and techniques include ICUS, FFR/iFR, lithotripsy, laser, Rota, Impella, IABP, OCT, and CTO.The technologist administers or withholds contrast and treatment as appropriate, assesses patients for allergies, and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.The technologist pulls supplies for procedures and assists with inventory.The technologist may assist with instructing new staff.Procedures require working around and maintaining a sterile field.
Weekend shifts follow department rotation.Holiday shifts follow department rotation.The technologist performs on-call duties and/or works variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.The technologist will begin taking call within 6 months.
Travelers assigned to the Greater Peoria Service Area may be required to float between the following sites: Carle Health Methodist Hospital, Carle Health Pekin Hospital, and/or Carle Health Proctor Hospital. The Carle Leader will notify the traveler directly when there is a need to float between locations.
