Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Coronary Care Unit (3B) at St. Rita’s Medical Center. The full-time night shift runs 7pm–7am with a 36-hour weekly schedule, providing essential patient support and basic health care under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include monitoring vitals, assisting with activities of daily living, and accurate documentation in the EHR. Preference for BLS and acute care experience; EPIC EHR training is a plus.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
• Must have completed one of the following: (required)
• Recent acute care experience preferred (not required)

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely in the chart.
• Participates in hand-off/report of patient and unit needs on arrival and departure.
• Performs delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Uses transfer techniques to mobilize patients safely.
• Encourages patient independence and personal activity where appropriate.
• Tailors care to patient interests and hobbies.
