Job summary

Tufts Medicine seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the MelroseWakefield Hospital cardiac unit. Per diem, 12-hour shifts, supporting licensed nurses with direct patient care and routine tasks.

The role includes measuring vitals, assisting with hygiene, feeding, and mobility; performing 12-lead EKGs and basic point-of-care duties; and maintaining infection control standards with a compassionate, team-focused approach.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; BLS certification required.
• Prefer 4+ years of healthcare experience and CNA or equivalent certification.
• Ability to perform direct patient care and basic nursing assistant tasks under RN supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including hygiene, vital signs, and mobility activities.
• Document care and monitor patient status; communicate with RN and physicians.
• Perform 12-lead EKG and handle specimen labeling and transport as needed.
• Assist with tests, dressings, and bedside nursing procedures per competency.
• Respond to call lights promptly using AIDET when communicating with families.
