Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the MassMutual 7 Cardiac Heart Failure unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. This full-time, night-shift position supports cardiac care, with a 36-hour work week and three 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend.

The role emphasizes safe patient care, vital signs monitoring, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to improve outcomes for heart failure patients.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Provided safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations.
• Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.
