Job summary

Ether.fi is seeking a strong software engineer to join the credit card transaction team and contribute to the risk systems on top of it. You will tackle declines and frictions, build proactive fraud controls, and collaborate with Product, CX, and Compliance to ensure a secure, user-friendly experience.

You will own the fraud stack, create monitoring and mitigation tools, and investigate live cases, turning insights into repeatable protections for the next transaction.

Qualifications

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and problem solving.
• 4+ years of professional coding experience, shipping products.
• Product sense; care for users affected by declined transactions.
• Comfortable with data; can dig into data with queries.
• Genuine interest in adversarial problems and pattern detection.

Responsibilities

• Improve the card transaction experience by reducing declines and frictions.
• Enhance the card program as a product; identify real-user breakages and fix them.
• Hunt fraud and abuse patterns such as card testing and friendly fraud.
• Own the fraud stack: rules, queues, scoring logic, and real-time monitoring.
• Investigate live cases by querying data, diagnosing root causes, and formulating rules.
• Build internal tools, dashboards, and scripts to boost risk and CX effectiveness.
