Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Fraud Engineer to own the fraud decisioning stack across onboarding, payments, and wallet flows. You will translate analyst judgment into production rules with thresholds, versioning, and backtesting, building signals from device, behavioral and graph data.

The role requires 5+ years building production systems with a focus on fraud/risk, strong TypeScript and SQL skills, and collaboration with risk, security, and product teams in a fast-moving crypto/fintech

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production systems with 3+ years focused on fraud, risk, or trust and safety.
• Track record at a company where fraud carried a real cost (payments, card issuing/acquiring, banking, lending, marketplaces, or crypto).
• Hands-on ownership of a production rules engine or model-serving path, plus supporting data pipeline.
• Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (TypeScript ideal).
• Fluency in catch rate, false-positive rate, precision at threshold, and loss rate.
• Comfort with SQL and conducting independent analysis.

Responsibilities

• Build and own fraud decisioning services for onboarding attempts, stablecoin transfers, on/offramp orders, and card transactions.
• Convert analyst judgment into production rules and models with thresholds, versioning, backtesting, and rollback capability.
• Build device, behavioral, velocity, counterparty, and graph-based signals across clients and wallets.
• Measure and publish catch rate, false-positive rate, and fraud loss per product line.
• Detect account takeover, mule networks, first-party fraud, synthetic identities, refund and promo abuse, and agent-initiated payment abuse.
