Job description

The Car Buyer is responsible for all activities related to purchasing non-private party vehicles for PnP. Responsibilities include bidding and purchasing vehicles from outside vendors, coordinating with tow vendors for delivery, and ensuring proper payment. The role also involves working with vendors to ensure correct pricing and exploring new avenues for vehicle procurement.

Essential Functions

1. Supply vehicles for all PnP facilities by bidding and purchasing from outside vendors.
2. Review towing and car pricing for accuracy.
3. Verify vendor checks for correct amounts.
4. Recruit new tow vendors through internet searches and local business outreach; solicit new business from non-profits and fleet services.
5. Act as the primary contact for local tow companies for vehicle transfers.
6. Relay market activity and scrap prices to Regional Purchasing Managers to ensure market-aligned purchase prices.
7. Ensure vehicle purchasing volumes are met.
8. Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
9. Follow safety policies and report unsafe activities.
10. Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Qualifications

2. Knowledge of vehicle types, makes, and values.
3. A two-year degree is preferred but not required.
4. Proficiency with computers, including Outlook and internet applications.
5. Ability to travel and drive long distances.
6. Own vehicle and valid driver’s license.
7. Insurance levels meeting company guidelines.

Job Conditions
