Position Overview
We are seeking a Capture Manager to lead the development and execution of capture strategies for U.S. government and defense opportunities.
This role will be responsible for advancing qualified opportunities from early identification through proposal submission and award. The Capture Manager will work closely with business development, technical teams, leadership, and strategic partners to understand customer requirements, develop competitive strategies, coordinate teaming, and position the company for successful contract awards.
The ideal candidate understands the federal acquisition environment and can bring together customer intelligence, technical capabilities, competitive analysis, and proposal strategy to drive disciplined and effective pursuits.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead capture activities for priority U.S. government and Department of Defense opportunities.
- Develop and execute capture plans, win strategies, competitive positioning, and opportunity-specific action plans.
- Evaluate and qualify opportunities based on customer requirements, strategic fit, competitive landscape, acquisition approach, and probability of success.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer missions, requirements, priorities, budgets, acquisition strategies, and procurement timelines.
- Partner with business development teams on customer engagement and opportunity development.
- Work closely with technical teams to align company capabilities with customer requirements and mission needs.
- Conduct competitive assessments, gap analyses, and solution positioning.
- Develop win themes and value propositions for priority pursuits.
- Identify and develop teaming strategies with prime contractors, subcontractors, technology partners, and other industry participants.
- Coordinate capture activities across leadership, engineering, business development, proposal, finance, and other internal teams.
- Support responses to RFIs, Sources Sought notices, RFQs, RFPs, and other government solicitations.
- Transition capture strategies and customer insights into clear direction for proposal development.
- Manage capture schedules, milestones, action items, and internal reviews.
- Maintain accurate opportunity information, capture documentation, and pipeline updates.
- Provide leadership with regular assessments of opportunity status, competitive position, risks, and recommended next steps.
- Support post-submission activities, customer follow-up, and lessons learned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Communications, Political Science, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in government capture, business development, federal contracting, proposal management, or a related function.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading complex government contract pursuits.
- Strong understanding of U.S. federal government and Department of Defense acquisition and procurement processes.
- Ability to develop capture strategies, competitive assessments, win themes, and customer engagement plans.
- Strong strategic thinking, project management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand technical solutions and translate them into customer-focused value propositions.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across technical, business, executive, and external partner teams.
- Ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within defense, aerospace, Counter-UAS (C-UAS), UAS, national security, or emerging defense technology markets.
- Established relationships within the Department of Defense, federal agencies, defense primes, or government contracting community.
- Familiarity with FAR and DFARS requirements.
- Experience with IDIQs, task orders, OTAs, SBIR/STTR programs, and other federal acquisition pathways.
- Experience developing teaming strategies and working with prime contractors, subcontractors, and technology partners.
- Experience with capture reviews, color-team processes, and formal proposal development.
