Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking a Capture Director to bridge Business Development and Mission Management, owning the end-to-end capture lifecycle for DoD opportunities. On-site in Huntsville, you will drive keep-sold expansion and optimize capture processes while leading price-to-win strategies across defense, aerospace, and space intelligence markets.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, conduct rigorous go/no-go assessments, and cultivate relationships with government and industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Science or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of capture management or business development experience within the DoD aerospace, defense, or national security tech sectors.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance (or fast-tracked).

Responsibilities

• Opportunity Management: Qualify and capture high-value defense solicitations across multiple agencies and commercial R&D entities.
• Lifecycle Ownership: Own proposals from handoff to closure including negotiation and compliance.
• Organic Growth: Partner with Mission Management to expand within existing accounts (USAF, USSF, MDA, DoD).
• Gate Reviews: Conduct go/no-go assessments evaluating alignment, competition, ROI.
• Competitive Intelligence: Analyze DoD budget exhibits to map programs and funding.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate with engineering, pricing, legal, and mission management to translate specs into winning proposals.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with government agencies, international partners, and private industry.
• International Capture: Apply knowledge of ITAR/EAR to secure international tests and pursuits.
• Market Visibility: Represent Varda at defense conferences and industry days.
