Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks experienced Captains to lead our U.S. flag fleet, operating on inland and coastal waterways across the East Coast, Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, Great Lakes and major rivers.

Captains will ensure safe vessel operations and represent the company as professional leaders. Captains are master mariners with piloting experience on challenging waterways, supported by our on-board bridge simulator for rigorous training and development focused on critical decision-making and

Qualifications

• U.S. Coast Guard Master’s license with Near Coastal endorsement; 1,600 GRT+ preferred
• TWIC credential must be current
• Experience captaining on coastal and river waterways; 2+ years, 5+ preferred
• Excellent communication and team-building abilities
• Pre-employment drug screening and ongoing random testing
• Familiarity with Great Lakes routes including St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes ports
• Ability to perform essential functions in a shipboard environment

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
• Operate the vessel in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Execute prudent maneuvering, docking, locking, and anchoring.
• Conduct daily inspections of all vessel spaces.
• Supervise, lead, and develop deck officers.
• Oversee Shipboard Engineer and coordinate major repairs with port engineers.
• Support hotel and culinary teams in delivering five-star guest service.
• Maintain logs, reports, and administrative records.
• Provide visible leadership through announcements and guest interactions.
