Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks experienced Captains to lead our U.S. flag fleet, sailing inland and coastal waters across the East Coast, Alaska, Pacific Northwest, Great Lakes and rivers.

Captains will command vessels designed for safe navigation and exceptional service, with a focus on safety and professional leadership for guests and crews. These master mariners bring hands-on piloting experience in challenging waters and will participate in rigorous simulator-based training to maintain top-tier

Qualifications

  • USCG Master’s license with Near Coastal endorsement (100 GRT min).
  • 1,600 GRT or greater preferred.
  • TWIC credential.
  • Captain experience on coastal and river waterways (2+ yrs, 5 yrs preferred).
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills.
  • Pre-employment drug testing and continual testing.
  • Familiarity with Great Lakes routes (St. Lawrence Seaway, etc.).
  • Ability to perform essential functions, with/without accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
  • Operate the vessel in compliance with standards.
  • Lead and develop deck officers.
  • Oversee Shipboard Engineer and coordinate repairs.
  • Support hotel and culinary teams in guest service.
  • Maintain logs and administrative records.
  • Provide visible leadership through announcements and rounds.
