Job summary

The Iowa Department of Administrative Services (DAS) seeks a dependable Maintenance Worker 2 for the Capitol Complex Grounds and Building Team. You will help maintain safe, welcoming facilities for employees, visitors, and the public.

Responsibilities include grounds maintenance, custodial tasks, equipment operation, event support, snow removal, and basic repairs, with opportunities to contribute to safety, upkeep, and efficient operations across multiple state facilities.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time work experience in semi-skilled grounds keeping, maintenance, or equipment operation.
• Valid driver’s license is required or obtainable per position.
• Willingness to complete required safety training and certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Capitol Complex grounds: mow, trim, edge, weed, prune, mulch landscaped areas and beds.
• Support building operations: clean offices and restrooms, restock supplies, perform minor repairs.
• Operate vehicles and equipment: drive trucks, operate snowplows, tractors, and maintenance tools.
• Respond to service requests: prioritize, complete, and document work orders.
• Assist with events: set up tables/chairs, prep spaces, assist with cleanup and snow events.
