Job summary

Caltech is seeking a Project Manager in the Facilities Planning, Design and Construction Department to lead capital improvement and renovation projects across the campus. You will manage scope, budgets and schedules while coordinating with diverse stakeholders to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.

The role requires expertise in project management best practices, with experience in design-bid-build and DB delivery, and the ability to navigate complex requirements.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in architecture, engineering, interior design, construction management, city planning, or related discipline.
  • 6-8 years' work experience in project management or construction management of new buildings or renovations.
  • LEED AP or LEED GA certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Complete OSHA 10-hour Construction Training within six months and refresher training every four years.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, Adobe PDF, Zoom, and project management software.
  • Must be able to travel to buildings on campus for planning and observation.

Responsibilities

  • Research project needs and advise customers on complex project plans and scopes.
  • Oversee design and construction of multiple projects and prepare budgets, schedules, and status reports.
  • Develop and negotiate contracts; manage bidding, invoicing, change orders, and close-out.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination between Facilities Operations, EH&S, Security, Finance, and IT.
  • Support senior PMs on larger projects and provide guidance to junior staff.
  • Prepare progress and financial reports for ongoing projects.
