Job summary

Occidental College is seeking a Project Manager to oversee construction projects from planning through to CD/BD submission. You will coordinate design teams, prepare contracts and change orders, and monitor schedules and budgets to ensure compliant execution.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 3+ years of project management experience, and strong skills in MS Office, Project, and QA processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with emphasis in construction management, facilities management, planning & design or related fields.
• Valid California driver's license.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in managing new construction, renovation, retrofit, and/or repair projects with value over $35,000.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and methods involved in construction or repair of buildings or other structures.
• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in project planning, resource allocation, contractor assignments, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
• Ability to analyze, synthesize and organize data, and present findings clearly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), Google Drive/Forms, Adobe Acrobat, and social media applications.
• Detail-oriented, thorough, and capable of handling multiple tasks with accuracy.
• Effective communication verbally, in writing and electronically.
• Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration across teams.

• Ability to work in high-volume, high-accountability environments.
• Excellent organizational, logistical and planning skills and the ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Project Planning Phase: Meet with stakeholders to obtain goals and scope; draft rough schedule and ROM budget.
• Program & Design Phase: Oversee design with architects/engineers; manage RFPs; update schedules; document scope changes.
• Construction Phase: Administer contracts; monitor progress; conduct site reviews; maintain logs and cost controls.
