Job summary

MAA is seeking a Capital Project Manager to coordinate large capital improvement and new construction projects and perform due diligence inspections for potential acquisitions. The role supports the Physical Assets or Capital Projects team and embodies MAA’s Core Values.

The successful candidate will travel frequently, attend meetings, and produce written progress reports while coordinating with operations, asset management, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in building construction, engineering or architecture or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of construction project management and/or general contractor experience.
• Experience inspecting and monitoring large construction projects.
• Valid driver’s license for state of residence.

Responsibilities

• Travels frequently to conduct on-site construction project inspections.
• Attends construction meetings and represents MAA’s interests.
• Performs interior inspections with general contractors and develops punch lists.
• Performs mechanical inspections on all systems for proper operation.
• Performs exterior inspections to ensure integrity and quality of workmanship.
• Reviews third-party inspection reports and ensures follow-up and status reports.
• Provides communication between operations, asset management, and contractors.
• Prepares written progress reports for each project.
• Interacts with and trains property staff on required inspections.
• Assists with warranty services and real estate acquisition due diligence.
