Job summary

City of El Paso is seeking a Construction Inspector to supervise and support capital projects. Under general supervision, you will conduct on-site inspections of buildings, parks, and facilities to ensure compliance with plans, codes, and laws, and provide technical support to the Engineering Department.

Responsibilities include preparing detailed inspection reports, presenting findings to management or elected officials, supervising assigned personnel, scheduling and directing daily work,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, or higher and two (2) years journey, master, or supervisory level, building trades experience.
• Valid "Class C" Texas Driver's License.
• Experience conducting on-site construction inspections for municipal capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Conducts on-site technical inspections of construction projects including buildings, parks, facilities, street and drainage improvements for compliance with approved plans and codes.
• Prepare detailed oral or written technical reports of inspection results and present to management staff and/or elected officials at official meetings.
• Supervises assigned personnel: schedule, assign, instruct, guide, check and evaluate day-to-day work; enforce personnel rules and regulations, standards of conduct, work attendance, and safe working practices; train staff; interview applicants and recommend selection.
• Other duties as assigned.
