Job summary

The City of El Paso is seeking a journey-level engineering support technician to assist in plans and specifications development, survey coordination and construction site inspections. The role involves coordinating with engineering professionals, consultants and inspectors, and preparing documentation for reviews.

Candidates will draft designs, verify calculations, and ensure compliance with codes and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or higher in Engineering or Drafting Technology, or 30 hours of college credits in Engineering or related field, plus two years para-professional engineering experience; or four years of construction/engineering related experience.

Responsibilities

Develop, draft and review designs, plans and specifications for designated projects and programs.
Coordinate survey activities and construction site inspections.
Assist higher level technicians or engineers and prepare documentation for outside review.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, engineers and inspectors during facility design and construction.
Prepare cost analyses, manage work orders, and verify work completion per specifications.
Monitor safety and regulatory compliance on construction projects.
