Job summary

The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) in Staunton, VA, seeks a Capital Outlay Project Engineer to manage the school’s capital outlay program and select large facilities projects. You will coordinate with designers, contractors, and state agencies to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards, supporting the school’s mission.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Engineering, you will contribute to long-range planning, minimize disruptions to students

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Experience managing capital outlay or large-scale construction projects.
• Knowledge of VPPA, CPSM, and state/federal building requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of capital outlay and selected small facility projects to ensure on-time delivery.
• Serve as primary liaison between VSDB, design professionals, contractors, and oversight agencies.
• Support long-range facility planning and coordinate project activities to minimize disruption to students and staff.
• Prepare clear reports, presentations, and project documentation to support decision-making.
