Job summary

MP Materials in Mountain Pass, CA is seeking a Project Controls – Cost Lead to help shape and enforce cost-control standards for capital programs. You will lead cost forecasting, reporting, and KPI tracking to drive on-budget delivery.

Collaborate with project managers and finance teams to establish cost plans, monitor progress, and ensure proper PP&E treatment while implementing robust data templates and dashboards.

Qualifications

• Expertise in cost management for medium to large capex projects.
• Experience implementing ERP or financial systems.
• 3–5 years progressive project experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of project and portfolio financial planning for capital projects.
• Collaborate with project managers to establish cost plans and provide weekly forecasts.
• Create project tracking and reporting templates for data sharing between project management and finance teams.
• Prepare and maintain project disbursements projections and accounting accruals.
• Assist stakeholders with preparation of capital appropriation requests and monitor purchasing activity for capital assets, PP&E accounting.
• Ensure compliance with PP&E accounting policies.
• Oversee the cost management database implementation and reconciliation with SAP or similar systems.
• Coordinate with accounting on project setup and master data maintenance.
• Collect and organize historical cost information for estimating future work.
• Monitor equipment installation and provide inputs for in-service dates to fixed assets accounting.
• Participate in end-of-project reviews for lessons learned and improvements.
• Develop cost management processes and create summary dashboards.
• Other duties as assigned.
