Job description

We are a San Diego-based private real estate lending and investment firm seeking a motivated, outgoing, and results-driven Capital Development Associate to help grow our investor base and raise capital for our private lending investment fund.

This position will focus heavily on new investor outreach and business development. The ideal candidate is comfortable picking up the phone, initiating conversations with prospective investors, developing referral relationships, and consistently following up with new and existing contacts.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys sales, relationship building, and financial services and wants to develop a career in private investments and capital raising.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify and contact prospective investors through cold calling, email outreach, networking, referrals, and other business development efforts
  • Make a high volume of outbound calls to prospective investors and referral sources
  • Develop relationships with high-net-worth individuals, financial advisors, wealth managers, CPAs, etc
  • Introduce and educate prospective investors to the firm and its private lending investment opportunities
  • Qualify prospective investors and identify appropriate opportunities for continued discussions with senior management
  • Schedule introductory calls and meetings with qualified prospective investors
  • Develop and maintain a consistent pipeline of prospective investors and referral relationships
  • Conduct regular follow-up with prospects throughout the investor decision-making process
  • Attend networking events, industry functions, investor meetings, and other business development opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of calls, contacts, follow-ups, and investor activity within the firm's CRM
  • Assist with investor presentations, meetings, marketing initiatives, and investor communications
Qualifications
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable making cold calls and initiating conversations with people who have no prior relationship with the firm
  • Confident, professional, personable, and persistent
  • Strong sales mentality with the ability to build trust rather than rely on high-pressure sales tactics
  • Highly organized and disciplined with follow-up
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working toward measurable outreach and capital-raising goals
  • Ability to understand and clearly communicate financial and investment concepts
  • Experience using CRM or sales-tracking software preferred
Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Investor relations
  • Private equity or private credit
  • Wealth management
  • Securities or investment sales

Candidates with a strong track record in B2B sales, financial sales, or relationship-driven business development are also encouraged to apply.

What We're Looking For

The right person for this position is someone who is not afraid of the phone. You should enjoy meeting new people, developing relationships, asking for introductions and referrals, and turning an initial conversation into a long-term investor relationship.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of building a pipeline rather than waiting for leads to come to them. Success in this position will be measured by consistent outreach, qualified investor relationships developed, meetings generated, and ultimately capital raised for the firm's investment funds.

Compensation
  • Salary: $60,000-$85,000 depending on experience
