Job summary

City of Fort Worth seeks a Professional Engineer to manage capital water/wastewater projects within the Water Capital Delivery section. The role requires leadership, strong design and contracting experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

The position involves overseeing design, contract administration, and coordination with field operations. A Texas PE license is required or must be obtained within six months for non-Texas licensed engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or related field.
• Four (4) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience as a registered professional engineer, including two (2) years performing project management that includes design and contract administration of water and wastewater projects.
• Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas; if licensed in another state, must obtain Texas registration within six months.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Texas driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a project manager and be responsible for managing capital water improvement projects.
• Interpret design requirements established by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
• Provide technical leadership to engineering technicians and other staff members in the department related to water and wastewater engineering.
• Supervise, coordinate, direct, and monitor the section's day-to-day activities.
• Coordinate with Field Operation staff to address construction related issues.

A Professional Engineer position is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Capital Delivery. The Capital Delivery Section is responsible for managing capital improvement projects related to water/wastewater pipeline design, facility related projects and construction activities. We are seeking a highly energetic individual who has a good understanding of water/wastewater design and can operate in a fast pace environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or related field
• Four (4) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience as a registered professional engineer, including two (2) years performing project management that includes design and contract administration of water and wastewater projects
• Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment
• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Texas driver’s license

• The candidate should have strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and strong reporting skills, both written and verbal
• Municipal government experience related to development
• Exceptional customer service, time management, communication, and writing skills are essential to address a high volume of telephone, email, and walk-in public inquiries
