Job summary

Justice Administrative Commission seeks an Assistant Capital Collateral Regional Counsel—North to handle postconviction litigation in the Northern Region of Florida. The role involves both trial and appellate work, collaboration with investigators and forensic experts, and managing complex habeas matters.

The candidate must be a graduate of a U.S. law school, in good standing with the Florida Bar, and possess excellent writing skills; appellate experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited U.S. law school with admission to the Florida Bar in good standing.
• Excellent writing skills are required.
• Former public defenders with courtroom and/or appellate experience are preferred.
• Remote work may be considered based on capital postconviction experience.

Responsibilities

• Litigate postconviction matters in state and federal courts.
• Prepare, file, and litigate habeas corpus petitions.
• Collaborate with investigators, experts, and clients to challenge convictions and sentences.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team through trial and appellate stages.
