Job summary

Miami University in Oxford, OH, seeks a Staff Accountant, Capital, to join General Accounting. The role supports management of fixed assets and debt accounting, prepares journal entries, and assists in monthly and annual closes.

You will work with the Sr. Accountant, Fixed Assets, track capital expenditures, perform asset verifications, and help with footnote disclosures for the audit. A Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance/Business and CPA readiness are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or General Business.
• Active CPA license, or have met qualifications to sit for CPA exam.
• Experience with ERP software systems.
• Experience with fund accounting.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly and year-end close; create, record, and approve journal entries.
• Track and update capital expenditures with Fixed Assets; capitalize approved expenses.
• Conduct annual physical inspection of University assets.
• Track leases and prepare annual journal entries per lease guidance.
• Set up and monitor University projects; process capital invoices.
• Assist with footnote disclosures for the annual audit.
• Collaborate to record debt transactions and related entries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
