Job summary

Miami University is seeking a Staff Accountant in the Capital Department to provide accounting services within General Accounting. The role supports management of fixed assets and debt accounting, preparing journal entries and reports, and aiding in monthly and annual close and audits.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or General Business, with CPA or CPA-eligibility preferred. Strong Excel skills and knowledge of GAAP are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly and year-end close of the general ledger.
• Create, record and approve journal entries.
• Track capital expenditures with Fixed Assets team and capitalize expenses as approved.
• Perform physical inspection of University assets annually.
• Manage leases and lease entries under accounting guidance.
• Process procurement invoices related to capital projects.
• Assist with footnote disclosures for the annual audit.
• Record transactions related to bonds and debt with Sr. Accountant.
