We are currently seeking a Capacity Management-US Citizen to join our team in Washington DC, District of Columbia (US-DC), United States (US).

Position's General Duties and Tasks:

We are looking for a skilled Senior IT Systems Administrator – Capacity to support our client in delivering enterprise services to approximately 10,000 users across multiple government agencies in a no-fail, globally accessible environment. This role operates within the Information Systems Division (ISD), focusing on capacity management to maintain high-availability and data recovery for over 1,000 servers and 14 petabytes of storage, ensuring operational continuity 24/7/365. The contractor provides Tier 2 through 4 system administration to support critical infrastructure managed by the Capacity Management Branch (CMB). Key responsibilities include:

  • Configuring VMware environments and storage systems to maintain high-availability and optimal performance across clustered infrastructure.
  • Monitoring server and storage capacity metrics to identify usage trends and ensure resource availability for mission-critical operations.
  • Maintaining backup schedules and recovery processes to protect data integrity and support rapid restoration in failure scenarios.
  • Resolving escalated capacity-related issues, such as storage allocation failures or virtualization performance bottlenecks, from trouble tickets.
  • Supporting disaster recovery efforts by executing predefined plans and assisting with restoration of services during incidents.
  • Updating system configurations and documentation to reflect changes in capacity allocation or recovery procedures.
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to implement capacity adjustments and troubleshoot recurring operational challenges.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related scientific or technical discipline.
    • Education Equivalency: One-and-one-half (1.5) years of additional experience can substitute for one (1) year of a typical degree program.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience supporting projects of similar size, scope, and complexity (e.g., capacity administration for 1,000+ servers and multi-petabyte storage).
  • Certifications: Compliance with DoD 8140 for Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level 2 (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, or equivalent) is required at the time of hiring.
  • Must be a US citizen who possesses a current Top Secret SCI clearance which can be upgraded.
  • Must live a commutable distance from the client site in Washington, DC.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated VMware management and administration experience in maintaining high-availability and data recovery environments.
  • Certifications: VMware certifications (e.g., VMware Certified Associate – Data Center Virtualization (VCA-DCV)) and DoD 8140 IAT Level 3 compliance (e.g., CASP+, CISSP).
  • More than 5 years of experience in systems administration, particularly with capacity management in a DoD or government enterprise setting.
  • Proficiency with storage management tools (e.g., NetApp, EMC), backup software (e.g., Veeam), and Microsoft Work Folders or DFS Replication.
  • Proven ability to manage operational capacity in a 24/7/365 environment with a high volume of trouble tickets.
