We are currently seeking a Capacity Management Lead-US Citizen to join our team in Washington DC, District of Columbia (US-DC), United States (US).

Position's General Duties and Tasks:

We are looking for a skilled Senior IT Systems Engineer – Capacity that will support our client in delivering enterprise services to approximately 10,000 users across multiple government agencies in a no-fail, globally accessible environment. This role operates within the Information Systems Division (ISD), focusing on capacity management to ensure high-availability and data recovery for over 1,000 servers and 14 petabytes of storage, supporting critical virtualization and storage infrastructure. The contractor provides Tier 2 through 4 systems engineering to maintain uninterrupted service 24/7/365. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing high-availability architectures for server virtualization and storage systems to meet stringent uptime requirements.
  • Creating virtual machine templates and resource pools to optimize resource allocation and scalability across enterprise environments.
  • Configuring shares and capacity settings to balance workloads and ensure efficient performance in clustered environments.
  • Assessing current capacity utilization trends to forecast future resource needs and prevent service degradation.
  • Testing disaster recovery configurations and failover mechanisms to validate resilience under simulated failure scenarios.
  • Collaborating with storage and virtualization teams to integrate capacity solutions with backup and replication systems.
  • Documenting capacity designs, resource assignments, and recovery procedures to support operational planning and audits.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related scientific or technical discipline. One-and-one-half (1.5) years of additional experience can substitute for one (1) year of a typical degree program.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience supporting projects of similar size, scope, and complexity (e.g., capacity management for 1,000+ servers and multi-petabyte storage).
  • Certifications: Compliance with DoD 8140 for Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level 2 (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, or equivalent) is required at the time of hiring.
  • Must be a US Citizen who possesses a current Top Secret /SCI Clearance and is able to receive a higher level check.
  • Must currently reside a commutable distance from the client site in Washington, DC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated VMware management and administration experience in designing high-availability and disaster recovery environments.
  • Certifications: VMware certifications (e.g., VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)) and DoD 8140 IAT Level 3 compliance (e.g., CASP+, CISSP).
  • More than 5 years of experience in systems engineering, particularly with capacity management in a DoD or government enterprise setting.
  • Expertise in storage administration (e.g., SAN/NAS management), backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault), and clustered environments.
  • Proven ability to develop disaster recovery plans and manage large-scale virtualization infrastructure in a 24/7/365 environment.
