Network Deployment Engineer II, Amazon Dedicated Cloud

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Deployment Engineer to build Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions as part of our Infrastructure Operations team. As dedicated cloud regions continue to expand and grow, Infrastructure Operations is looking for builders to take on the challenge of scaling network systems allowing us to stay ahead of customer demand. As a Network Deployment Engineer, you will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network. The position's responsibilities include scaling support of several data center locations and day to day assistance with capacity management. Engineers will work closely with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution as directed by Technical Program Managers.

The ideal candidate should be highly autonomous, detail oriented, possess strong written and verbal communication skills and have significant experience in supporting large scale, enterprise class networks. Excellent network implementation and troubleshooting skills combined with a proven documentation methodology is also required. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is essential. In addition to providing top-tier management and support of Amazons vast network infrastructure, Deployment Engineers are expected to build or enhance tools, develop best practices, refine operational procedure, and think proactively.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
  2. Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
  3. Manage cabling vendor activities and performing quality assurance activities.
  4. Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows.
  5. Participate in the migration (possibly off business hrs), basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
  6. Complete customer requests via Remedy trouble ticketing system.
  7. Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  8. Troubleshoot networking, routing and inter connectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low level application interaction.
  9. Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
  10. Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow.

Minimum Requirements
  1. Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  2. 3+ years experience as a technician or engineer installing and/or troubleshooting network cabling and hardware in a data center environment; or an equivalent combination of higher education and tech related experience.
  3. Experience with small to medium, complex project scopes and ambiguous details within work environment.
  4. BS in Information Systems or Computer Science and/or certifications to include CCNA or JNCIA and/or BICSI Level II or greater.
  5. Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers, Switches, Load Balancers and Firewalls.
  6. Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment, such as VFL, power meter, and OTDR.
  7. General comprehension of the various components and sub-components of data center infrastructure.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $152,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
