Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Technical Program Manager for Capacity Analytics & Tooling within the Compute Infrastructure TPM team. You will own the strategy and roadmap for planning tools used to forecast demand, understand supply, and plan allocations across CPU, storage, network, and GPUs.

You will partner with engineering and data teams to build robust data foundations and scalable analytics, with a hybrid SF-based work model.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience leading technical programs or products in data platforms, infrastructure, capacity planning, or related field.
• Owned an internal product or platform roadmap and translated complex operational needs into requirements, priorities, and releases.
• Direct experience with capacity planning, including demand forecasting, supply planning, allocations, and resource constraints.
• Worked with data infrastructure such as ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytical storage; discussed architectural tradeoffs.
• Have used SQL and Python or similar tools to investigate discrepancies, validate assumptions, and prototype analyses.
• Applied quantitative methods to forecasting, scenario analysis, or optimization.
• Understand compute/storage/network/accelerator capacity and cost; worked across multiple cloud environments.
• Able to lead complex programs with technical dependencies and align teams; communicate tradeoffs clearly.
• Resourceful in ambiguous environments and build scalable planning solutions.
• Interested in AGI impacts.

Responsibilities

• Own the product strategy and roadmap for planning tools for capacity analytics.
• Translate complex processes into demand intake, forecasting, supply tracking, scenario analysis, and allocation planning.
• Scale the data infrastructure behind capacity planning with engineering on ingestion, transformation, storage, and delivery.
• Make planning data consistent and trustworthy through shared models, cleaning, validation, and reconciliation.
• Advance forecasting and analytical capabilities by linking product plans to infrastructure demand and making assumptions visible.
• Define and scale meaningful success metrics for data quality, forecast performance, and tool adoption.
• Support planning across multiple cloud providers and account for regional differences.
• Lead delivery across data, infrastructure, and planning teams with clear prioritization and risk management.
• Drive adoption by developing simple workflows, documentation, training, and feedback mechanisms.
• Make capacity tradeoffs clear to leadership with views of gaps and financial/operational consequences.
